INTRODUCTION

The conference section “Potential for Exploitation and Development of Coastal Zone in Vietnam 2022” is an English segment of the national coast conference with the theme “Coastal exploration and economic development of Vietnam”.  It is the culmination of a series of ocean-related academic events. It focuses mostly on the sovereignty and exploitation of Vietnam’s marine and island resources across historical times. This conference is hosted by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

CALL FOR PAPERS

We are inviting you to submit the full paper for the conference. The conference will be organized in both Vietnamese and English. The selected papers will be presented at the conference and peer-reviewed for publication in a Scopus-indexed journal. Selected papers written in English could be published in the Scopus-indexed conference proceedings (IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science or other).

Aim

 – Collect additional local and foreign sources and records pertaining to Vietnam’s oceans and islands during historical periods, with a focus on the numerous political shifts that occurred between 1858 and 1975;

– Assess the economic development potential of Vietnam’s seas and islands during industrialization, modernization, and international integration;

– Evaluate guidelines and policies on the exploitation of Vietnam’s seas and islands in light of their historical context in order to draw lessons for the formulation of future guidelines and policies in Vietnam

ScopeThe conference seeks to provide a scientific venue for international and national researchers, scholars, and policymakers to discuss and implement long-term solutions to the challenges facing the coastal exploration and economic development of Vietnam. The conference focuses on such specific issues (but is not limited to)

  1. Theoretical and practical issues for exploitation with sustainable development of the coastal zones.
  2. Resources and environment of the ocean (Exploitation marine governance, conservation, sustaining marine life, climate action, waste management, pollution-free ocean, integrated coastal management…)
  3. Socio-economic and human activities in the coastal zones (Green economy, marine resilience, sustainable coastal city, culture and community relating to the ocean…)
  4. Tourism – services, and commerce related to the coastal development
  5. Maritime security, safety, and regulatory enforcement
