INTRODUCTION

   The conference section “Sustainable Development of Marine Environment and Coastal Zone in Vietnam: Challenges and Prospects” is an English segment of the national marine conference with the theme “Marine economic development and marine security of Vietnam”.  It is a highlight in the series of academic events focused on the ocean topic. It contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the SDG 14 (Life below water), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities); and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

This conference is hosted by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh and in collaboration with the Institute of Sea and Island Studies, which is part of the General Administration of Vietnam’s Seas and Islands.

CALL FOR PAPERS

We are inviting you to submit the full paper for the conference. The conference will be organized in both Vietnamese and English. The selected papers will be presented in the conference, and peer-reviewed for publication in three different journals.

(1) Selected papers written in English will be published in the Scopus-indexed conference proceedings (IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science).

(2) Selected Vietnamese-language papers will be published in a special issue of the Science and Technology Development Journal – Social Sciences and Humanities (http://stdjssh.scienceandtechnology.com.vn/index.php/stdjssh).

(3) The third group of papers will be published in the Vietnamese conference proceedings of the hosting university (VNU-HCM Publishing House). Each selected paper will be published in only one publication

Aim:  The conference is an interdisciplinary scientific activity nationwide, aiming at:

– Identify the new challenges in theory and practice of maritime environment governance and sustainable development in coastal zones. 

– Introduce new achievements, propose, discuss and promote recent research on sustainable socio-economic development. 

– Propose novel solutions suitable to current marine conditions. The new policies, economics, and social models assist in maximizing the potential and advantages of the sea and islands while also reinforcing a close connection with the activities of the sea and islands.

ScopeThe conference seeks to provide a scientific forum for international and national researchers, scholars, and policymakers to discuss the difficulties facing Vietnam’s maritime environment and coastal zone and to work toward long-term solutions. The conference focuses on such specific issues (but not limited to)

      1. Theoretical and practical issues for sustainable development of the ocean
      2. Resources and environment of the ocean (Marine governance, conservation, sustaining marine life, climate action, waste management, pollution-free ocean, integrated coastal management…)
      3. Socio-economic and human activities related to the ocean (Blue economy, marine resilience, sustainable coastal city, culture and community related to the ocean…)
      4. Tourism – services, and commerce related to the ocean
      5. Maritime security, safety, and regulatory enforcement

  • Notification for full paper acceptance (for presenting at the conference): 16/9/2021
  • The peer-review and editing process will run concurrently with the conference and selected papers will be notified on a case-by-case basis. The publications will be processed following the conference, which is planned to take place in early 2022.

FORMATTING GUIDE

 

This guide describes how to get your contributions ready for submission. If this is your first time contributing to the conference, we recommend that you read it thoroughly.

  1. Authors who wish to publish full-text articles in Vietnamese with an ISBN:
  • The article should be typed on A4 paper (210 x 297 mm), Times New Roman (Unicode) typeface, font size 13, left margin 3 cm, right margin 2 cm, top margin 2.5 cm, bottom margin 2.5 cm (including figures/drawings), 1.5 lines apart;
  • Each article sent to us should include the following: Title (Vietnamese and English); Abstract  (no more than 300 words, Vietnamese and English); Keywords (3-5 words, Vietnamese and English); Content (no more than 15 pages); 
  • The reference citation in the reference follows the standards of the APA 6th Edition guidelines;
  • The article should be named as:  Author name_ Short article name .docx
  1.
